The high-speed endless runner game Retro X Racer puts players in the cockpit of a jet and lets them steer it as it speeds forward through rising geometric buildings. Can you make it through and get a good score?
How to play Retro X Racer
Your jet will fly forward on its own, but you can change your path by moving left and right to stay in the safe lane and avoid the geometric towers that are rising. Keep an eye out and act quickly, because hitting any object will end your race right away. A temporary shield can be turned on to keep your jet safe from crashes for a short time.
When colored rings show up along the flight path, you can pick up power-up items. Getting these at the wrong time can cause accidents, but they can help your score or give you a short-term edge.
Controls:
- To go left, press A or the left arrow.
- To go right, press D or the right arrow key.
Tips to play Retro X Racer
Pay Attention to Rhythm, Not Speed
You need to keep your driving pace steady. Fast zigzag movements are not as safe as changes that are made slowly and carefully.
Take a look ahead at the track
Keep your eyes a little ahead of your plane to figure out where obstacles will be. It works better to move quickly than to make changes at the last minute.
Stay close to the middle
Putting your plane near the middle of the open lanes will give you more options for getting around unexpected objects.
Plan how you will use Shield
Don't waste the green shield on parts that are easy. Keep it for places with more obstacles.
Watch out for red items that speed up
Red speed-up items make things harder by making things move faster. You should only collect them when you are sure you can handle things and see the way ahead.
Put life ahead of risk score
It's sometimes smarter to skip a speed-up thing. Most of the time, a longer playthrough gives you a higher score than a risky extra try.
